Freedom AirlinesFreedom Airlines is relatively new to the airline world and was established in March 2002. It took its maiden voyage in October 2002. The airline was started so that Mesa Air Group would fulfill contract obligations to operate the Bombardier CRJ-900 as America West Express for America West Airlines. All very confusing, yes. But Freedom Airlines was established out of necessity as Mesa Airlines was also operating as US Airways Express under a code share agreement. Fast forward to October 2005 where Freedom Airlines began operations as Delta Connection.So Freedom Airlines doesn’t have much history to speak of. There was an incident that they’d just assume forget though in 2006 when a flight attendant kicked a family off a plane for breastfeeding. That incident sparked outrage from liberal groups and a host of negative press which the company is still reeling from. Their relatively small fleet of only 30 aircraft services over 150 destinations. A quick gander at the Freedom Airlines company profile shows that it’s certainly a company going through some growing pains. Luggage requirements in this age of heightened security are even more restricted on a smaller airline like Freedom Airlines. Southwest Airlines Company is rumored to have set up a freedom fund to which, no doubt, Freedom Airlines would be keen to get a part of. Freedom Airlines is interested in operating flights to Australia, as they are one of the only other countries in the world that shares the United States of America’s sense of Liberty. Liberty is important in a capitalist, market driven system like we have here in the USA. Without Liberty to operate across borders with whomever we please, there would be shortages of supply on many things and prices would rise considerably.
