Jet Blue AirlineJetBlue Airways is owned by JetBlue Airways Corporation and is an American low-cost airline. The company’s headquarters is in Forest Hills, a neighborhood in the Queens borough of New York City. Its home base is John F. Kennedy International Airport. In 2001, Jet Blue Airline began a focus city operation in the Long Beach area of Southern California and another one at Logan International Airport in 2004. It has substantial operations in existence at Oakland International Airport. Fort Lauderdale, and Washington-Dulles. Its main operations are in the United States, although you can get a Jet Blue flight to the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Mexico. Jet Blue Air has a corporate office in Cottonwood Heights, Utah with a satellite office in Darien, Connecticut. Jet Blue Airline was founded in 1998 under the name of New Air. The original plan was to follow that of Southwest Airlines by offering low-cost travel, but Jet Blue Air’s approach was to distinguish itself by its amenities such as in-flight entertainment. Jet Blue Airlines was one of a handful of U.S. airlines that made a profit during the aftermath of September 11, 2001. It held strong financially throughout the 2002-2004 years, and while many lauded Jet Blue for its success, the airline sector responded by starting mini-rival carriers. Unlike many carriers, Jet Blue Airlines has not yet attempted to make money by selling snacks onboard during flights, as have many larger airlines on both domestic and international flights. It actually encourages passengers to use the call button. In spite of the effect on other airlines, Jet Blue airfares remained competitive. In light of higher fuel prices and sustaining the amenities, however, in February 2006, Jet Blue Airlines announced its first ever quarterly loss. It has had to take some cost cutting measure such as deferring delivery of some new E190’s and removing a row of seats on A320s in order to lighten the aircraft and reduce fuel costs. Are Jet Blue’s cheap airfares a thing of the past? They hope to stay competitive with the cost cutting measures because low-cost is what keeps Jet Blue operating and what has kept its profit margin high until the last couple of years. On the other hand, the personal service it gives its passenger is worth more than a few dollars of savings on Jet Blue Airline tickets. .
