Ted AirlinesTED Airlines is a relatively new brand air carrier, founded in Denver, CO by United Airlines (“TED” is the last three letters in UNITED) in 2004 as a way for the larger carrier to compete regionally with smaller airlines like Southwest and Frontier. It’s fleet consists of 54 Airbus A320 aircraft. These planes fly a 156-seat all-economy configuration. This setup allows the larger air carrier a way to compete on a regional level with the discount air carriers who fly smaller planes and can offer better prices.
Some of the deals TED airlines offers are from more traveled cities like Chicago with connections to smaller, “escape” type destinations like Las Vegas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Phoenix. Ticket deals can be had all over on TED airlines including their own website. In fact, their site queries “Why wait for a sale? Ted has great Everyday Low Fares to your favorite fun places.”
While this is true there are other places to get the same or even better fares. You should of course begin with the internet as there are great deals to be had on any of the various travel sites depending on where and when you are traveling.
Also, it should be noted, that the “everyday low fares” offered by TED airlines have a disclaimer stating you should purchase your seats at least 21 days in advance in order to get the best deals. So if you’re searching for great last minute deals, the travel sites are the way to go.
It is a fantastic note to see when the big corporate conglomerates begin listening and responding to their customers. Other companies stepped into the mix and began offering “low-cost local” airfare for those not traveling from New York to Los Angeles, and the consumers responded; jumping up and welcoming them to the neighborhood with a slap on the back as well as their business. But TED airlines and United have hollered back with a great new airline and site offering cheap deals, quick flights, to less busy airports, making everyone, me, you, and TED airlines, happier because of it.
